Providing edentulous patients with new functional and well fitting dentures is one of the biggest challenges for Dentists and Dental Technicians. Studies about the demographic development show an increasing average life expectancy and a postponement of edentulism to a later life period.

Additionally our patients today have higher demands for aesthetic and function for their dentures. These factors lead to even more challenges in future in the field of prosthetic rehabilitation. Unfortunately Dentists and Dental Technicians can easily forget that suitable occlusal concepts, as well as static considerations, are fundamental also for long lasting implant-borne and partial dentures. This course is suitable for Dentists, Clinical Dental Technicians and Dental Technicians and will show a systematic concept which involves the work flow being done on a live patient

The Biofunctional Prosthetic System (BPS®) offers a practical combination of a an easy to follow, systematic workflow and high quality materials for the fabrication of functional and aesthetic dentures.

Aim:
The aim of this course is to give delegates an opportunity to learn the full clinical workflow of the Biofunctional Prosthetic System from Ivoclar Vivadent.
You will receive a detailed explanation of both the clinical and technical processes. The tutor will show the procedure of examining the patients oral structures and determining their suitability for various types of BPS dentures.

A live patient will be used to demonstrate the special impression taking techniques including both primary and secondary functional impressions. You will be shown methods for achieving the correct OVD recording as well as witnessing one of the most predictable and accurate methods for recording centric relation: the gothic arch tracing method. Evaluation of the denture try and advice will be given on achieving the correct function, aesthetics and phonetics. Check the accuracy of the occlusion on the fitted dentures and adjust or make any necessary occlusal grinding to ensure a semi balanced occasion is achieved with the final dentures.

Objectives:

  • Theoretical basics about BPS iDenture
  • Clinical and technical workflow
  • BPS for different indications (implant-borne and
  • partial dentures)
  • Live patient demonstration with a patient
  • Anatomical first impressions with the Accu-Dent® System
  • Preliminary bite registration with the Centric Tray
  • Functional impressions
  • Recording the centric position with the Gnathometer M
  • Transferbow registration with the UTS 3D-Transferbow
  • Post fitting checks and adjustments

Learning Outcome:

This one day BPS course looks to provide the participants with an in-depth understanding of the Clinical workflow. The tutor will impart information to participants to improve their knowledge of the correct impression taking protocols according to the BPS system regarding primary impressions and fully functional impressions.

Furthermore, it will increase participants understanding of recording an accurate jaw relationship using the Gnathometer M - Gothic arch tracing system. All method and techniques work to the tutors experience and consider the manufacturers guidelines.
